Montmartre and its neighbourhood
The quartier des abbesses in the heart of Montmartre
owes its name to King Louis VI ,"The Fat,"
and to Adelaide of Savoy, his wife. They founded
an abbey for nuns on the knoll in 1133.
The hotel is located in the very heart of this
picturesque village clinging to the slopes of
the Butte Montmartre, background of the famous
film, "Amélie Poulain." Only
footsteps from the Place du Tertre and its painters.
Renowned haunts such as the Moulin Rouge or the
Bateau Lavoir are bundled up among the fabric
merchants (Saint Pierre market), the bustling
Lepic Abbesses market, the typical bistrots, the
façades dripping with greenery and secret
little squares. The streets are clamouring with
terraces, cultural life and their many fashionable
boutiques.
